Youth Grade Report

With  both teams sitting in the top 3 this was always going to be a tough affair. We started well early after a good period of dominating the game.  Jaksen Giraldi scored a gem of a goal to lead 1-0, then wests 1-1, wests struck again 1-2 then  a west's penalty made it 1-3 at half time.

The guys had it all to do 2nd half, Fernhill hung in there looking for that second goal that would give them a mental lift and it came late in the second half from Jaksen Giraldi who was turning 21 the next day.

With minutes to go Fernhill threw everything at west's and a determined Kyle Proctor scored and made it 3-3, Jaksen Giraldi the birthday boy received the man of the match award he not only scored a double he produced a season best performance.

First Grade defeated Kiama 2-0

Reserves  defeated Kiama 3-1

Youths defeated Kiama  9-1

Youth Report from Coach Kevin:

Fernhill 9 Kiama 1

The first half saw us dominate but we missed a lot of chances we went to half time 2-0 in front, the boys left the dressing room determined to go on with the  job. The second half  saw the guys play some entertaining football attacking with confidence, 9 goals were scored, 3 by Jakson Giraldi, 3 by Mitchell Turner, Cody Jones 1, Klause Rauker 1, plus1 to Luke Blatch. Mitchell Turner was named man of the match, every player played their part in a good win.
Well done guys.

First Grade lost 3 -1 in a very unfriendly game.

Youth Grade Report
Fernhill 1 -  Thirroul 0

A hard fought match as usual with Thirroul, Jaksen scored our only goal we dominated  the game I feel. We prepared well for the game Andrew Drapaniotis played well and received the man of the match award. James Katsoudas and Luke Blatch played well throughout with mature performances.

First Grade draw 1-1
Reserves lost 2-1
Youth  won 5-0

First Grade Match Report v OakFlats:

'The colt from 'Old Regret'

Dominated possession, dominated chances, an, incorrectly, disallowed goal, poor officiating but, in the final analysis, when we miss 2 penalties, one right on full time, at 1-1, we can only blame ourselves, Oak Flats had 3 shots in the game compared to our 20! How we contrived to draw 1-1 has haunted me all weekend.

Corrimal or Warilla, given the chances we were, would have beaten OF's by 6. It's fantastic that we play good attacking football and create lots of chances but we, either, need to start converting more of our chances, or we need to recruit a No.9 who can 'stick' the ball in the back of the net.

Our defence was caught out once from a long ball on a bumpy pitch but overall we were in control of the game for long periods.

It was really disappointing to come away with just 1 point when Warilla, Thiroul and Helensburgh, all lost. Corrimal are 7 points clear of us when it should have been 5.

Thirroul will not be as generous, as Oak Flats, so there will be plenty of work to be done this week.  As always our effort was fantastic. We look a fit side with plenty of goal opportunities in us. We've just got to put 'em away more regularly.

All the best, Dan
